Rajnath Singh is backbone of Bharatiya Janata Party, who has been shaping the party since the very inception of it. He was appointed as the District President of the Jana Sangh in 1975.
He rose in the world of politics by leaps and bounds as he was first elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly from the Mirzapur, then he was chosen as the State President of BJP youth wing in 1984.
Within a short span of time, he became the National general secretary in 1986 and National President in 1988.
He was then sent to the most important legislative council – Uttar Pradesh – where he became the Education Minister.
Rajnath Singh introduced a number of acts under his leadership, including Anti-Copying Act, 1992, making the modulations difficult in the textbooks. In short, he restricted the process of rewriting history texts. He also impelled to include vedic mathematics in the textbooks.
With different portfolios, Rajnath Singh was able to fit the bills of all from Advisory committee on Industry (1994–96), Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Agriculture, Business Advisory Committee, House Committee and the Committee on Human Resource Development to President of BJP unit in Uttar Pradesh and Union Cabinet Minister in 1999.
With decades of research, he became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He also elected as the MLA from Haidergarh in 2001 and 2002.
He also talked about reservation in government jobs and introduced the benefits to the most Backward Classes among the OBC and SC. He was later appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and later entered into Food Processing in the NDA Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Like a true leader, Rajnath Singh took the responsibility of the entire party during the tough phase of 2004 general elections when the party lost in the elections and two most prominent figures Lal Krishna Advani, who resigned, and Pramod Mahajan, who was murdered, left the party. From 2004, Rajnath stood firm to build the party in every nook and corner of the country.
Like other BJP leaders, he also used the religion card to gain attention, promising “no compromise” over building the disputed land of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, development in the country and mentioned the importance of Hindi language.
Currently working as the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh was not tainted with any corrupt charges. He took over the profile of BJP’s National President Nitin Gadkari, who was alleged as corrupt. Indeed, Rajnath Singh was one of the most active participants in the making of BJP.
